Top 10 Moments from 2021-22 – No. 6
Sometimes you need your senior leadership to step up and lead the action. On Feb. 3, the Centenary wrestling team got one of those performances.
Prior to the start of the match, the Cyclones honoredÂ
Aidan Fernandez,Â
Jacy Jones,Â
Haakon Mathewson,Â
Matt Angelov,Â
Justin Hopman andÂ
Cameron Bruffy for their contributions to the program. The seniors went on to account for five of the team's six victories in the contest.
Trailing 15-12 heading to the match at 174-pounds, the Cyclones turned to a pair of seniors and a sophomore to help turn the match around.
Mathewson turned in a dominating performance at 174-pounds for the Cyclones. He jumped out to a 12-2 lead after one period of action and settled for a 17-6 major decision overÂ
Cooper Kidd.
Hopman followed that up with a win by fall at 184-pounds that gave the Cyclones a 22-15 lead. His fall came in the third period againstÂ
Christopher Richardson.
SophomoreÂ
Keevon Berry battled for a 7-4 decision over Isaiah Johnson at 197-pounds. He took a 4-2 lead after one period and a third period reversal and a riding time point helped secure the win.
