HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – The 2021-22 school year provided plenty of exciting moments on the court/field/mat for the Centenary University Athletics Department.
Over the next several weeks CentenaryCyclones.com will be looking back on the top 10 as voted on by members of the athletic department staff.
Today the Honorable Mention moments that finished just outside the Top 10 are revealed.
Stay tuned on Thursday, June 30 as the number 10 moment is revealed.
2021-22 Centenary Athletics Top 10 Honorable Mention (in no particular order)
- Roberts Ties Single-Game Caused Turnovers Mark at Keystone: Graduate student Ellie Roberts took the phrase "lets get defensive" to heart when the Cyclones played at Keystone on April 12. By halftime of the game, Roberts had four caused turnovers for the Cyclones. She added five in the second half of the contest and finished the game with nine caused turnovers and six ground balls. The nine caused turnovers tied the school record for single-game caused turnovers set by Alysia Pinkerton in 2013. Read more from that game by clicking here.

- Battling for the road win: Winning on the road can be tough, winning on the road when you trail early in the game can be even tougher. On Oct. 2 at Bryn Athyn, Centenary field hockey proved they were up to the challenge. Hailey Rowe's first period goal drew the Cyclones even in a game that they eventually went on to the win, 3-1. - Run Like the Wind: Meghan Barone turned in strong performance and finished ninth at the Charger Invitational hosted by Lancaster Bible on Sept. 17. The senior ran a 31:27 on the 6k course for the second top 10 finish of her career. It was the seventh best 6k time of Barone's career. Read more from that game by clicking here.

- Gotta Find a Way to Break the Tie: Freshman Eve Haddad became a hero for the Centenary women's soccer team in the Oct. 16 road game at Cairn. With the game tied at 1-1 and heading to the 65th minute, Haddad stepped up and punched a ball home for the 2-1 advantage. That proved to be the difference maker. Haddad made her presence felt in the game as she had the game-winning goal and picked up the assist on the Cyclones' first tally of the day. Read more about the game by clicking here.

- OT Was Her Time: On Nov. 11 Centenary women's basketball was locked in a road battle with Lancaster Bible. A fourth quarter rally by the Chargers left the game tied at 54-54 at the end of regulation. Forward Carmen Escano took over for the Cyclones in the extra session as she scored eight of the team's 15 points in the stanza. Escano was a solid 6-for-8 from the foul line in the overtime period and also added three rebounds and a steal to help Centenary win 69-61. Read more about the game by clicking here.

- Coming Up Clutch: When the Centenary men's soccer team hosted Marywood on Oct. 23, the Cyclones were looking to send their seniors out in style and gain some momentum going into the playoffs. Marywood took the early lead with a goal that came just before the half. For a long time, it looked like that 1-0 lead would stand up despite the Cyclones' best efforts. However, with 28 seconds left in regulation, Brandon Salmon made his first collegiate goal count as his tally tied the game and left the Cyclones with a 1-1 tie.
