Ellie Roberts tied the school record for single-game caused turnovers to lead the Centenary University women's lacrosse team at Keystone College in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action on Tuesday afternoon.
Roberts finished with nine caused turnovers which tied
Alysia Pinkerton's school record set during the 2013 season (vs. Cedar Crest). It is also tied for the second most by a Division III women's player this season.
Keystone led by just two after 15 minutes of play, 6-4. However, the Giants used a 9-0 run, bridging the second and third period, to increase its advantage and claim a 15-5 win.
The two teams went back-and-forth in the first period.
Krista Strausser scored the game's first four goals to give the home team an early advantage.
Back-to-back goals from
Christine Manser and
Kristin Bell pulled the Cyclones to within two, 4-2.
Keystone used a pair of goals to push its lead to 6-2.
Brooke Bode scored two goals in a 1:34 span and cut the Centenary deficit to 6-4 after one.
Keystone went on its 9-0 run and pushed its lead to 15-4 entering the fourth period. Strausser,
Alex Williams and
Miranda Mascia each scored two goals for the Giants in that stretch.
Centenary got a fourth period goal from
Zaairah Lamothe to halt the Keystone run but that was it as the home team claimed the 15-5 win.
Hannah Osbahr made three saves to earn the win goal for Keystone.
Jenyfer Pereira started and made three saves in 30 minutes of action while
Chloe Neubauer also made three stops.
Strausser led Keystone with seven goals in the game while Mascia had two goals, three assists, six caused turnovers and four draw controls.
Bode led the Centenary offensive efforts with two goals and two ground balls while Bell had a goal and six draw controls. Roberts added six ground balls to go with her nine caused turnovers.
Centenary is back in action when it hosts Bryn Athyn on Saturday, Apr. 16 at 1 p.m. The Cyclones will honor their seniors prior to that game.
