Women's Lacrosse Honors Seniors Before Battling Cedar Crest

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – Lily Butcher's goal with 9:09 to play tied the game at 8-8 but Cedar Crest was able to rally for the 11-8 win over the Centenary University women's lacrosse team on Monday evening at Reeves Field.

Centenary honored its seniors, Kristin Bell, Christine Manser, Amanda Tietjen and Alissa Brown prior to the start of the game.

Bell scored a pair of first period goals for the Cyclones. However, Cedar Crest sandwiched a pair of Maddie Graham goals and one from Emily Schoelier in between those Bell tallies and took a 3-2 edge after one.

Cedar Crest outscored the Cyclones 4-1 in the second period and took a 7-3 lead at the half.

Centenary came out firing to start the third period as goals from Manser and Zaairah Lamothe pulled the Cyclones to within two, 7-5.

A Schoelier goal at 3:19 pushed the Cedar Crest lead to 8-5.

Centenary opened the fourth period on a 3-0 run and tied the game at 8-8. Tietjen battled through traffic to score a pair of goals in that stretch while Butcher scored off an assist from Lamothe.

Cedar Crest was able to score the final three goals of the game to secure the 11-8 win. Schoelier had two in that stretch for the Falcons.

Mira Carver made 13 saves to earn the win in goal for Cedar Crest. Chloe Neubauer made seven saves in the loss for the Cyclones.

Graham and Schoelier led Cedar Crest with five goals each while Madyson Lagano had five draw controls and five ground balls.

Bell tallied three goals for the Cyclones while Tietjen added two scores. Brooke Bode contributed six draw controls, six ground balls and an assist while Ellie Roberts had six ground balls and four caused turnovers.

Centenary is back in action when it hosts Bryn Athyn on Wednesday, April 27 at 4 p.m.
