LANCASTER, Pa. – Senior
Meghan Barone finished ninth to lead the Centenary University women's and men's cross country teams at the Charger Invitational hosted by Lancaster Bible College on Friday evening.
The senior ran a 31:27 on the 6k course for the second top 10 finish of her career. It was the seventh best 6k time of Barone's career.
Junior
Rhiannon Ginnetti secured a top 15 finish in the field as she crossed the line in 36:23. Ginnetti ran a personal best with that time.
Sophomore
Yvanna Germosen had a strong showing as she posted a time of 43:47 and claimed 22nd place. Teammate
Kelly Ann Earrusso was just six seconds behind Germosen in the race to the line and took home 24th place (43:53).
Sophomore
Lucy Kucharski rounded out the Centenary contingent as she crossed the line in 45:00 and finished 28th.
The Cyclone men had a strong showing on the 8k course as both
Jared Aponte and
Anthony Ferrara ran season-best times.
Aponte was the top finisher for the Centenary men as he ran a 32:27 and finished 19th. That was nearly a four second improvement from the week before.
Ferrara claimed a 39th place finish after posting a time of 38:57. The freshman improved his 8k time by two seconds from last week.
Senior
Matt Oehrlein was the third Cyclone to cross the line as he had a time of 41:07 and took 42nd place. Just 33 seconds behind him was sophomore
Matt Perine who posted a time of 41:40 for 43rd place.
Rounding out the Centenary contingent was senior
Ellis Brown, who posted a time of 51:05 and took home 49th place.
The Cyclones will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 25 when they travel to the Penn State Abington Open.
