Three Players Honored As CSAC Announces End of the Year Women's Lacrosse Awards

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – Three members of the Centenary University women's lacrosse team were honored as the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) announced its end of the year awards on Wednesday morning.

Sophomore defender Sara Brotons snagged Second Team All-CSAC accolades while graduate student defender Ellie Roberts earned All-CSAC Honorable Mention honors. Senior midfielder Amanda Tietjen was named to the CSAC All-Sportsmanship squad.

Brotons was honored for the first time in her career after a strong sophomore season. The defender started all eight games for the Cyclones and led the team and the CSAC while averaging 3.13 caused turnovers per game. She has ranked among the top 15 in the nation for most of the season for caused turnovers per game. Brotons had a career-high six caused turnovers against Bryn Athyn, which is tied for fourth in single-game history at Centenary. Her 25 caused turnovers this season are tied for seventh in single-season history for the Cyclones. Her 19 ground balls on the year rank among the top five on the team. She had a season-high five ground balls against Wilson.

Roberts made an immediate impact on the Centenary defense in her first season ever playing the sport. She appeared in seven games and made six starts for the Cyclones. Roberts ranked second on the team and in the CSAC while averaging 2.71 caused turnovers per game. Her nine caused turnovers in the game at Keystone tied the school single-game record. She ranks 16th nationally for caused turnovers per game. Roberts tied for the team lead with 23 ground balls on the season. She had a season-high six ground balls in a game twice. Roberts also scooped up a draw control against Wilson.

Tietjen earned a spot on the All-Sportsmanship Team after contributing all over the field for the Cyclones. She had six goals and one assist for seven points on the season. Tietjen had a season-high two goals against Cedar Crest. She tied for the team lead with 23 ground balls this season and had a season-best six ground balls twice. She also ranked among the top three on the team for caused turnovers with 17. She recorded four caused turnovers in a game three times this year.
