Old Westbury, NY – The Centenary women's lacrosse team came up just short on the road Wednesday, falling 8–6 to Old Westbury in a competitive conference matchup, highlighted by a major milestone from
Nora Dornich.
Dornich recorded two goals and an assist in the contest, reaching 100 career points with her performance to lead the Cyclones offensively.
Centenary started strong, jumping out to a 3–0 lead in the first quarter behind goals from Olivia Evans, Dornich, and Trista Hough. The Cyclones continued to control the pace into the second, extending their advantage to 5–2 after goals from Matalina Kratzel and Dornich.
After Old Westbury trimmed the deficit late in the second, Centenary pushed its lead to 6–3 early in the third quarter on a goal from Luz Montoya. However, momentum shifted as Old Westbury closed the period on a three-goal run to tie the game at 6–6.
The Panthers carried that momentum into the fourth, scoring twice more to take their first lead of the game. Despite multiple late opportunities and a 36–24 shot advantage, the Cyclones were unable to find the equalizer down the stretch.
Evans added a goal and an assist, while Kratzel and Montoya each found the back of the net. Goalkeeper Kylie Trilling made eight saves in net to keep Centenary within striking distance.
Although the result didn't go their way, the day belonged to Dornich, whose milestone performance marked a significant achievement in her standout career.
