Men's Soccer Tripped Up By Rosemont on PK's in CSAC Semifinals

Box Score HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – The top seeded Centenary University men's soccer team fell in heart-breaking fashion to No. 4 Rosemont College in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) semifinal action on Saturday afternoon.

The two teams battled through double overtime and found themselves tied at 1-1. Rosemont edged the Cyclones 4-2 in the penalty kick shootout to advance to the CSAC Championship game.

The Cyclones and Ravens battled back-and-forth early on each end of the field.

Rosemont broke through at 15:06 as Josh Dawicki scored off a pass from Alex Mowry.

The visitors were able to carry that 1-0 advantage into the half despite the Cyclones 14 shots in the first 45 minutes of play.

Centenary came out firing to start the second half and scored the equalizer at 47:55. Junior Tom Parry struck for his team leading 17th goal of the season off a pass from fellow junior Nik Polizos.

The two continued to battle but neither side was able to score in the remainder of regulation.

In the first overtime session Rosemont got off the only two shots but sophomore Paul LiTrenta was able to come up with two big saves.

Both teams had their chances in the second extra session as they combined for five shots but neither side was able to score, and the game was forced to a shootout.

In the shootout both teams converted their first shot opportunities. Sophomore Besnik Hadzovic was responsible for the Cyclones' early point.

Rosemont converted its next two chances while the Cyclones had their chances turned away and the Ravens had a 3-1 lead.

LiTrenta came up with a big stop before Parry put one in the back of the net, which made it 3-2. However, Rosemont converted its final shot for the 4-2 shootout win.

Grant Gonzalez made 14 saves in the win for Rosemont. LiTrenta finished with seven stops for the Cyclones.

The Cyclones conclude the season with a 7-11-1 mark.
