Hackettstown, N.J.: The Centenary University men's soccer team wrapped up its 2025 campaign on Wednesday afternoon, falling 3-2 to Gwynedd Mercy University in its final Atlantic East Conference matchup at J.E. Reeves Jr. Field.
The Cyclones (3–11–3, 0–4–3 AEC) opened the scoring early when Quinn Wydner found the back of the net in the 16th minute, finishing a pass from Thierry Ngwa to give Centenary the 1–0 lead. Gwynedd Mercy (7–10, 3–4 AEC) answered before halftime, knotting the game at 1–1 heading into the break.
Senior Brian Osorio converted a penalty kick in the 80th minute to put the Cyclones up one. The Griffins responded with 2 quick goals after. Despite a late push and several strong saves from goalkeeper Christian Ruiz, Centenary was unable to equalize before time expired.
The Cyclones recorded 14 total shots (seven on goal), led by Wydner, Osorio, and Patrick Kelleher, while Kevin Velasquez Mejia and Ruiz combined for nine saves in goal.
The contest marked the end of Centenary's 2025 season, highlighted by a young roster that showed resilience and growth throughout the fall. Wydner and Osorio finished among the team's scoring leaders, while the Cyclones' defensive unit—anchored by Harison Samaoya Lopez and Brian Moreria—proved steady against challenging conference opponents.
Centenary will look to build on this season's development as the program prepares for the 2026 campaign.
