Cyclones Swept in Doubleheader Against Drew

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Hackettstown, NJ – The Centenary softball team dropped both ends of a doubleheader to Drew on Wednesday afternoon, falling 13–7 in game one and 7–4 in game two.

In the opener, Centenary came out strong, taking an early 2–1 lead in the first inning and battling back to tie the game at 5–5 in the second. Kayla Melsky led the offense with two hits, an RBI, and two runs scored, while Ciellesse Cotto drove in two runs. D'Ani Morales also contributed with a two-RBI single. However, defensive struggles proved costly for the Cyclones, as five errors led to multiple unearned runs. Drew broke the game open with a five-run fourth inning and added three more in the seventh to secure the 13–7 win. Centenary totaled 11 hits and drew seven walks but couldn't overcome the miscues.

Game two was more tightly contested, with Drew holding a slim 1–0 lead before capitalizing on Centenary errors in a four-run fourth inning. The Cyclones responded with two runs in the fourth and two more in the fifth to cut the deficit to 5–4, highlighted by a two-RBI single from Morales. Kayla Melsky again paced the offense with two hits, while Holly Casaliggi added a hit and a run scored. Despite the late push, Drew added insurance runs in the seventh to seal the 7–4 victory. Centenary finished with six hits but committed five errors in the game.

With the losses, the Cyclones fall to 3–17 on the season and will look to bounce back in their next outing tomorrow against Immaculata.
