Cyclones Sweep NJCU; Sorrentino Homers in Game Two

Jersey City, NJ – The Centenary softball team put together a strong all-around performance on Monday, sweeping a doubleheader from NJCU with a 7–5 win in game one and a 10–7 victory in game two.

In the opener, the Cyclones jumped out early and held off a late push to secure the win. Centenary plated three runs in the first inning and added another in the second to take control. D'Ani Morales led the way both at the plate and in the circle, finishing with two hits and an RBI while tossing a complete game to earn the victory. Alyssa Tronolone added two hits and scored twice, while Holly Casaliggi drove in a run. The Cyclones capitalized on NJCU miscues and timely hitting, reclaiming the lead with two runs in the sixth before adding an insurance run in the seventh to seal the 7–5 win.

Game two featured another resilient effort, as Centenary bounced back from an early deficit to complete the sweep. After falling behind 5–0 in the first inning, the Cyclones chipped away with a three-run third and took the lead for good in the fourth. The biggest swing came in the sixth inning, when Julia Sorrentino launched a two-run home run to extend the lead and provide a key cushion. She finished with two hits and three RBIs in the game.

Lily Bissett added a big day at the plate with two doubles and two RBIs, while Morales and Tronolone each contributed multi-hit performances. Sierra Stultz went the distance in the circle to earn the win in game two.

With the sweep, the Cyclones improve to 9–27 on the season, using timely offense and complete-game efforts in the circle to secure the twinbill.
