Cyclones Split Doubleheader with Baruch, Walk It Off in Game One

Hackettstown, NJ – The Centenary softball team earned a split in Tuesday's doubleheader against Baruch, using a dramatic walk-off victory in game one before falling in the nightcap in Hackettstown.

Game one featured a back-and-forth battle that ended in thrilling fashion. Trailing 8–6 entering the bottom of the seventh, the Cyclones rallied for three runs to secure a 9–8 walk-off win. Franchesca Lane started the comeback with an RBI single, followed by Alyssa Tronolone tying the game with a run-scoring hit. Moments later, Anna Cunningham delivered the game-winning RBI single to cap the comeback.

Cunningham led the offense with three hits and two RBIs, while Tronolone added two hits and a run driven in. Holly Casaliggi scored three times and drove in a run, and Lane contributed two RBIs. D'Ani Morales earned the win in relief, tossing five innings with seven strikeouts to help keep Centenary within striking distance.

In game two, Baruch's offense proved too much, as the Bearcats pulled away for a 14–3 victory. The Cyclones kept things close early, tying the game at 3–3 in the fourth inning behind an RBI triple from Morales and a sacrifice fly from Kayla Melsky. However, Baruch responded with three runs in the fifth and continued to build its lead late, including a six-run seventh inning to put the game out of reach. Centenary managed five hits in the contest, with Morales and Tronolone each recording multi-hit performances.

With the split, the Cyclones move to 7–23 on the season, highlighted by a resilient walk-off win to open the twinbill.
