Box Score BRONX, N.Y. — The Centenary University women's lacrosse team showed resilience and determination on Saturday afternoon, rallying from a four-goal deficit to earn an exciting 11–10 comeback victory over Mount St. Vincent.
Centenary found itself in an early hole after Mount St. Vincent jumped out to a 4–0 lead late in the first quarter. The Cyclones managed to get on the board just before the end of the period when Luz Montoya finished a pass from Nora Dornich to cut the deficit to 4–1.
Centenary's momentum started to build in the third quarter. Goals from Trista Hough, Matalina Kratzel, and Dornich brought the Cyclones within one at 7–6 heading into the final period. The fourth quarter turned into a back-and-forth battle. After Mount St. Vincent pushed the lead to 9–7, Centenary responded with three straight goals from Dornich and Olivia Evans to take its first lead of the game at 10–9 with just over two minutes remaining.
The Dolphins briefly tied the game at 10–10, but Dornich delivered the decisive moment. With just 40 seconds remaining, she found the back of the net for her fourth goal of the afternoon to give Centenary the 11–10 lead. The Cyclones' defense held firm in the final seconds to secure the dramatic victory. Dornich led Centenary with four goals and two assists in a standout six-point performance. Kratzel added three goals, while senior Trista Hough contributed a goal and an assist along with a team-high seven ground balls. Evans, Helder, and Montoya also added goals for the Cyclones.
In goal, Kylie Trilling earned the win after making five saves in the second half, helping Centenary complete the comeback. With the victory, the Cyclones improve to 1–1 on the season after an impressive comeback effort fueled by persistence and timely scoring.
