Cyclones Split Double Header In Conference Opener

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Centenary Women's Softball opened conference play with a split against Gwynedd Mercy, showcasing both offensive firepower and resilient pitching across the two-game set.

In Game 1, the Cyclones' bats came alive in a 7–3 victory, powered by a balanced offensive attack that produced seven runs on nine hits. Julia Sorrentino led the charge with an outstanding 3-for-4 performance at the plate, driving in three runs and setting the tone for the lineup. Franchesca Lane added to the momentum, going 2-for-3, while Alyssa Tronolone contributed two RBIs of her own.

Additional run support came from Kayla Melsky and Kaylin Kline, each driving in a run to round out the scoring effort. The Cyclones' ability to string together timely hits proved to be the difference in the opener.

D'Ani Morales delivered a standout all-around performance in the win. At the plate, she went 2-for-3, and in the circle, she threw a complete game, going all seven innings while allowing just three runs and striking out three. Her steady presence helped secure the conference-opening victory.

Game 2 told a different story, as the Cyclones fell 5–1. The offense struggled to find its rhythm, managing just two hits against Gwynedd Mercy pitching. Despite the limited run support, Sierra Stultz impressed in the circle, pitching all seven innings while allowing five hits and five earned runs, and striking out six.

While the bats were quieter in the second game, the pitching effort kept Centenary within reach throughout much of the contest.

With the split, the Cyclones begin conference play showing both their offensive potential and pitching durability. They'll look to build on the strong Game 1 performance and find more consistency at the plate as the season progresses.
