Myrtle Beach, SC–The Centenary University softball team dropped its first two games of its spring break trip in Myrtle Beach on Sunday, falling to Scranton 11–4 before a 6–0 loss to Stevenson.
In the opener against Scranton, the Cyclones fell behind early after a six-run second inning from the Royals. Centenary battled back in the fifth, scoring four runs to cut the deficit to 7–4. Kaylin Kline sparked the rally with a single, while Holly Casaliggi drove in two runs as Centenary capitalized on a pair of Scranton errors. Alyssa Tronolone later scored on a wild pitch and Casaliggi added another run to complete the inning's scoring. Despite the momentum, Scranton added insurance runs in the sixth and seventh to secure the victory.
In the second game, Centenary was held scoreless in a 6–0 loss to Stevenson. The Cyclones collected six hits in the contest, including a triple from D'Ani Morales and singles from Tronolone, Casaliggi, Ciellesse Cotto, and Lily Bissett. Stevenson broke a scoreless tie with two runs in the second inning and added four more in the fifth to pull away. Morales took the loss in the circle, while Sierra Stultz provided two innings of relief.
The Cyclones will look to pick up their first win of the season on Tuesday, when they take on FDU Florham down in Myrtle Beach.
