Myrtle Beach, SC–The Centenary softball team earned its first victory of the 2026 season in convincing fashion, defeating Mount St. Vincent 9-1 on Tuesday morning in Myrtle Beach.
The Cyclones wasted no time setting the tone, capitalizing on defensive miscues to score four runs in the opening inning. They continued to build momentum from there, adding runs in the second, fourth, and a three-run fifth to secure the run-rule victory. Offensively, Centenary tallied 11 hits, led by a standout performance from Julia Sorrentino, who went 3-for-4 with three RBIs, including a key RBI double. Alyssa Tronolone added two hits and drove in a run, while Lily Bissett and D'Ani Morales each recorded multi-hit games and an RBI. Morales also shined in the circle, tossing a complete-game effort while allowing just one run on seven hits and striking out two to earn her first win of the season.
After a tough start to the spring trip, the Cyclones showed resilience with a complete team performance, combining timely hitting, aggressive baserunning, and solid pitching to get into the win column. Centenary would later fall in its second game of the day against FDU-Florham, but the morning victory marked an important step forward for the program.
