In a much-anticipated rematch of last year's Atlantic East Conference final, the Centenary University softball team couldn't recreate the magic of their previous postseason run, falling 8-1 in a tough outing. The Cyclones were up against a familiar and formidable foe, but this time around, the bats couldn't keep pace and the defense struggled to hold back the opposing offense.
Despite the scoreline, there were bright spots for the Cyclones at the plate. Sierra Kaye led the offensive effort with two hits, continuing her strong presence in the lineup. Jessica Burlew, Madison Passanante, Carolyn Rosenberg, Jaelynn Miller, and Jayden Pennella each chipped in with a hit, keeping the Cyclones competitive and showing the depth of the lineup.
Centenary's lone run came off the bat of Rosenberg, who delivered a clutch RBI in an attempt to spark some momentum. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough to overcome the early deficit, as the opposing team steadily built their lead across multiple innings.
With a mix of seasoned leadership and young talent, Centenary will look to regroup, refocus, and use this game as they continue to batlle in the heart of conference play.
