HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – The Centenary University wrestling team faced a tough task as it hosted No. 16 New York University in its first home dual meet of the season Friday night. NYU jumped out to an early lead and claimed the 33-9 victory.

The Cyclones were led by sophomore Cameron Bruffy and freshman Ryan Anderson, who posted wins at 141 and 149-pounds respectively.

Bruffy, who has started his sophomore season strong, battled for a  4-2 decision over Dylan Kull. It was Bruffy's eighth win of the season for the Cyclones.

Anderson, who jumped into the national rankings last week, needed just 56 seconds to record the fall over Donald Albach. The freshman, who was ranked No. 8 by D3wrestle.com and No. 9 by the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) this week, picked up his team-leading 12th win of the season. Eight of Anderson's 12 victories have come by fall.

Several Cyclones battled hard but ultimately fell.

Junior Dylan Luciano battled back and picked up two points as time expired to tie his bout at 5-5 at 125-pounds. However, Tyler Crew was able to secure the riding time point and secured the 6-5 decision.

No. 9 Sean Lyons of NYU was forced to work hard for a second period fall against sophomore Stanley Wojdylak at 157-pounds.

Senior Jeremy Nurnberger worked hard against Cole Karam at 165-pounds but Karam, who was an honorable mention selection this week by D3wrestle.com, earned the win by fall.

Junior Kenny Long, who was an honorable mention selection by D3wrestle.com, went back-and-forth with Miguel Ruiz at 184-pounds but ultimately fell, 9-6.

The Cyclones are back in action on Sunday, Dec. 8 when they host the Bob Quade Cyclone Open starting at 9 a.m.
