Hackettstown, NJ – The Centenary baseball team delivered one of its most complete performances of the season on Tuesday, erupting for a 19–1 victory over CCNY in Hackettstown.
After falling behind 1–0 in the opening inning, the Cyclones quickly took control. Centenary plated three runs in the third inning, highlighted by a two-RBI single from Andrew Briggs, to grab a 3–1 lead they would never relinquish.
The offense continued to build momentum in the middle innings, but the biggest highlight came in the fifth. Briggs launched his first career home run, a solo shot to left field, and Vincent DeGrado followed shortly after with a solo blast of his own, also the first of his career—as the Cyclones extended their lead. Centenary broke the game wide open late, scoring eight runs in the seventh inning to put the game out of reach. The Cyclones finished with 16 hits and drew 10 walks, taking advantage of seven CCNY errors in the dominant offensive showing.
Briggs led the charge with three hits, three RBIs, and two runs scored, while DeGrado added two hits, two RBIs, and two runs. Joseph Frei contributed three hits and a run, and Nick Friscia added three hits and two RBIs off the bench.
On the mound, Liam Smith earned his first career win with a strong six-inning outing, allowing just one run on three hits while striking out five. The bullpen of Drew Oppenheim, Will Henderson, and Leonardo Mora combined to shut the door over the final three innings.
With the win, Centenary improves to 11–16 on the season and builds momentum behind a powerful offensive performance highlighted by milestone moments for Briggs and DeGrado.
