HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – Centenary University centerfielder Joseph Frei added another impressive accomplishment to his decorated 2026 campaign, earning both ABCA Region 5 All-Defensive Team honors and ABCA Region 5 Second Team All-Region recognition, as announced by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA).

Frei's outstanding season helped lead the Cyclones to one of the most successful years in program history while cementing his place among the greatest single-season performers in Centenary Baseball history.

At the plate, Frei was a model of consistency and production throughout the season. The junior centerfielder posted a remarkable .450 batting average, collecting 68 hits in 151 at-bats. He added seven doubles, two triples, 29 RBIs, and crossed the plate 51 times, serving as a true leadoff hitter at the top of the Centenary lineup.

His historic season saw him write his name into the Centenary record book, finishing second all-time in program history for both hits and runs scored in a single season. Frei's ability to consistently get on base and create scoring opportunities made him one of the most dangerous offensive players in the Atlantic East Conference.

Frei drew 23 walks while striking out only five times all season, one of the lowest strikeout totals among everyday players in the region. His ability to put pressure on opposing defenses extended to the basepaths, where he swiped 13 stolen bases.

While his offensive numbers were among the best in the conference, Frei's defensive excellence made him one of the most complete players in Region 5. Patrolling center field, he recorded 130 putouts, added one assist, and did not commit a single error throughout the season. His perfect fielding percentage, outstanding range, and ability to track down balls in the gaps earned him a spot on the prestigious ABCA Region 5 All-Defensive Team.

Frei's dual recognition highlights his impact on both sides of the ball and places him among the top players in Region 5. His selection to the All-Defensive Team and Second Team All-Region squad caps off a season in which he established himself as one of the most reliable hitters and defenders in college baseball.
