Cyclones Drop Doubleheader to Delaware Valley

Doylestown, PA – The Centenary softball team came up short in both ends of a doubleheader on Thursday, falling 10–2 and 9–2 to Delaware Valley in Doylestown, Pa.

In game one, the Cyclones jumped out to an early lead, plating a run in each of the first two innings. Kayla Melsky highlighted the early offense with an RBI double, while Alyssa Tronolone added an RBI single to give Centenary a 2–0 advantage.

Delaware Valley responded in the bottom of the second, capitalizing on defensive miscues to score three runs and take the lead. The Aggies continued to build momentum, adding single runs in the third and a decisive four-run fourth inning, fueled by a grand slam. Centenary was limited to just four hits in the contest, while the Aggies totaled nine. D'Ani Morales took the loss in the circle as the Cyclones fell 10–2.

Game two followed a similar script, as Centenary struck first before Delaware Valley answered with a big inning. The Cyclones took a 1–0 lead in the opening frame behind an RBI single from Melsky, but the Aggies responded immediately with four runs in the bottom half, highlighted by another grand slam.

Centenary managed to add another run in the third on an RBI from Julia Sorrentino, but Delaware Valley's offense remained consistent, scoring in five of six innings. The Cyclones collected seven hits in the second game, with Tronolone and Melsky each recording multi-hit performances.

Sierra Stultz went the distance in the circle in game two, but the Aggies' 16-hit attack proved too much to overcome as Centenary dropped the nightcap, 9–2.

With the losses, the Cyclones move to 2–12 on the season and will look to bounce back in their next outing.
