Hamburg, NY – The Centenary women's lacrosse team used a dominant first quarter to cruise to an 11–4 victory over Hilbert on March 21, improving to 4–2 on the season.
Centenary came out firing, scoring six unanswered goals in the opening period to take complete control early. Trista Hough opened the scoring and finished with three goals and one assist, while Nora Dornich led all scorers with four goals. Olivia Evans added two goals and an assist as the Cyclones built a commanding 6–0 lead after one.
Hilbert responded with a pair of goals in the second quarter, but Centenary's defense held firm, limiting quality chances and maintaining a 6–2 advantage at halftime. Goalkeeper Kylie Trilling anchored the effort, finishing with 11 saves in a complete-game performance.
The Cyclones continued to control the pace in the second half, with Dornich and Hough adding to the lead in the third quarter. Centenary outshot Hilbert 31–24 and dominated ground balls 30–22, showcasing their control on both ends of the field. Lauren Helder capped the scoring in the fourth quarter, helping secure the 11–4 win. In addition to the offensive output, Matalina Kratzel made a major impact with six draw controls and five ground balls, helping Centenary maintain possession throughout the game.
Overall, the early offensive surge and strong defensive play proved to be the difference as Centenary earned a convincing road victory.
