Salisbury, MD – The Centenary Cyclones dropped the opening game of their Spring Break trip in Saturday's doubleheader against No. 2-ranked Salisbury before responding with a strong performance in game two, highlighted by a dominant outing on the mound from Freshman
Brannon McBride.
In game one, Centenary battled early and even held a 2–1 lead heading into the seventh inning before Salisbury broke the game open with an eight-run frame to secure a 9–2 victory. The Cyclones scored in the sixth when Nick Friscia drove in Simeon Reed to tie the game, and regained the lead in the seventh after Cole Schulberg delivered an RBI single that brought home Myles Castillo. However, defensive miscues in the bottom of the inning allowed Salisbury to capitalize and pull away late.
Centenary bounced back in game two with a convincing 7–0 win over Oswego State, powered by an outstanding pitching performance from Brannon McBride. The right-hander tossed eight scoreless innings, allowing just five hits while striking out two to earn the win. The Cyclones jumped ahead with a three-run third inning and never looked back. Nick Friscia finished with two hits and two runs scored, while Blake Heitzman added two hits and an RBI. Derek DePace also contributed with an RBI single in the ninth to cap the scoring.
Centenary's aggressive baserunning and timely hitting helped secure the bounce-back victory, as the Cyclones totaled seven hits and swiped multiple bases in the shutout win. The Cyclones will continue their spring break trip, with one final game in Salisbury against Oswego State before heading down to Myrtle Beach.
