Aston, Pa.: The Centenary University women's basketball team delivered a resilient performance on the road Saturday afternoon, rallying to a 72–66 Atlantic East Conference victory over Neumann University at The Mirenda Center. The Cyclones overcame early struggles to outscore the Knights in the second half and secure an important conference win.
Centenary trailed at the end of the first half, but a decisive third quarter put the Cyclones in control. Centenary's offense found its rhythm behind efficient scoring and strong play in the paint, allowing the Cyclones to build a lead they would maintain down the stretch. Key defensive stops in the fourth quarter helped preserve Centenary's advantage as the Knights fought to close the gap.
Vatijah Davis led the Cyclones with a game-high and double-double with 23 points while also pulling down 17 rebounds, anchoring Centenary's effort inside. Alexa Osafo-Mensah finished with 18 points, connecting on efficient shots and perfect from the free-throw line. Kayla Sampong added 8 points, and Ashanti Dewalt chipped in 11 points, contributing crucial buckets throughout the second half. Sofia Mendez, Alexandra Koon, and Iysis Nickens provided additional scoring and defensive energy as Centenary balanced its attack.
The Cyclones shot a strong 38.1% from the field and made several clutch free throws in the fourth quarter to hold off Neumann's comeback attempts. With the win, Centenary improves its standing in Atlantic East Conference play and builds momentum as they approach the halfway mark of conference play.
