Arlington, Va.: The Centenary University men's basketball team was unable to keep pace in the second half on Saturday afternoon, falling 100–64 to Marymount University in Atlantic East Conference action. The Cyclones stayed competitive early, but a strong offensive showing by the Saints after halftime pulled the game out of reach.
Centenary kept the contest tight through the opening half, trailing by just three points at the break after solid scoring performances from multiple players. The Cyclones moved the ball well early and knocked down timely shots to stay within striking distance before Marymount found its rhythm coming out of the locker room.
Devin Strickland led Centenary with 16 points on efficient shooting, while Kenneth Rankin added 14 points. Naire Preston finished with 10 points, and Justin Carbone chipped in nine, including a pair of three-pointers. Despite the balanced scoring, Centenary struggled defensively in the second half as Marymount shot over 60 percent from the field for the game.
The loss moves the Cyclones to 3–10 overall and 1–1 in Atlantic East play as Centenary looks to regroup and prepare for its next conference matchup.
