GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. — The Centenary University men's basketball team saw its postseason run come to an end Wednesday night, falling to Gwynedd Mercy, 96-77, in the Atlantic East Conference semifinals at the Griffin Complex. Centenary concludes the 2025-26 campaign at 11-15 overall after advancing to the conference's final four.
The Cyclones stayed within striking distance for much of the first half and even held an early lead before the host Griffins used a late push to take a 37-31 advantage into the break. Gwynedd Mercy extended the margin in the second half behind efficient shooting, pulling away down the stretch. Kenneth Rankin led Centenary with 21 points and eight rebounds, whileJ Justin Carbone added 16 points and seven boards. Naire Preston contributed 14 points on four three-pointers, and Devin Strickland chipped in 10 points. Jasir Lane anchored the glass with a game-high 12 rebounds to go with seven points and five assists. Off the bench, Domenic Raymond scored five points and Darnelle Forrest added four.
Centenary shot 39.7% from the field and 33.3% from three while holding a 42-40 rebounding edge. The Cyclones recorded 32 points in the paint but were hurt by Gwynedd Mercy's second-half efficiency.
Despite the loss, Centenary's Atlantic East semifinal appearance highlighted a competitive season as the Cyclones close the year with momentum for the future.
