Pagano Honored for 1000 Assist While Cyclones Win 3-1

Box Score

The Centenary University women's volleyball team picked up an impressive victory on Tuesday night, defeating St. Mary's College (NY) in four sets, 3–1. The win showcased a balanced attack led by senior leadership and rising young talent as the Cyclones continue to build momentum early in the season. Senior Vanessa Pagano was honored to start the game for earning her 1,000th career assist in last week's contest. The night didn't slow down from there.

Seniors Poppy Skjonnemand and Jennifer Thistlethwaite once again powered the offense, leading Centenary in the kill column and keeping the St. Mary's defense on its heels throughout the match. Their steady play at the net set the tone for the Cyclones' aggressive attack.

Freshman utility standout Rey Bennett continued to impress, anchoring the defense with a team-high 20 digs. The performance pushed her over the 100-dig milestone in her young career, a remarkable feat just weeks into her first season.

The Cyclones secured the first set with crisp passing and relentless energy before St. Mary's fought back to take the second. Centenary responded with poise in the third and fourth, closing out the match to seal the 3–1 victory.

With the win, Centenary improves their record to 2-3 overall and heads into a key stretch of the schedule with confidence. The Cyclones will return to action this Thursday at home when they host Penn State Brandywine. First serve is set for 7pm.
