HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. — The Centenary University men's lacrosse team wrapped up their 2025 season with some well-deserved recognition, as three Cyclones were named to the Atlantic East All-Conference Second Team. Senior defenseman Hayden McMullen, junior defenseman Gerald Haak, and freshman attacker Marty Zoet each earned the honor, capping off standout individual seasons on a team that showed grit and resilience from start to finish.
McMullen and Haak served as the heart of the Centenary defense, anchoring a back line that was often under siege but never backed down. A two-year contributor, McMullen started all 13 games in his final campaign, tallying 12 ground balls and 13 caused turnovers. His consistent presence and leadership on the field made him a cornerstone of the Cyclones' defensive unit.
Haak, a junior who will return next season as a leader on the back end, matched McMullen's intensity all season long. He posted 22 ground balls and 12 caused turnovers, bringing a physical, smart brand of defense that frustrated opponents game in and game out. Though neither defender recorded a goal this season, their contributions were crucial in keeping Centenary competitive through a challenging schedule.
The third Cyclone to earn second team honors was a bit of a surprise — but a welcome one. Freshman attacker Marty Zoet burst onto the scene in his debut season, playing in all 13 games and earning seven starts. Zoet made an immediate impact, notching 12 goals and four assists while picking up 17 ground balls. His shooting accuracy (.545 SOG%) and high-energy play helped spark the Centenary offense throughout the season.
With Zoet returning alongside rising seniors Mark Gilles and Brian Rosko — both key contributors this season — the Cyclones have a strong core to build on heading into 2026.
Despite the season's ups and downs, the postseason recognition reflects the individual efforts that kept Centenary battling in one of the region's toughest conferences. As the program looks ahead, these honors serve as both a celebration of current accomplishments and a reminder of the talent returning next year.
