Hackettstown, NJ: The Centenary University men's lacrosse team dropped a non-conference matchup to Husson University, 23–2, Monday afternoon at J.E. Reeves Field.
Husson controlled the pace from the opening faceoff, scoring nine goals in the first quarter to build an early advantage. The Eagles added six more goals in the second period to take a 15–2 lead into halftime. Centenary found the back of the net twice in the second quarter. Lucas Bova scored the Cyclones' first goal of the afternoon on an unassisted strike midway through the period, while Marty Zoet added another unassisted goal later in the quarter to account for Centenary's scoring.
Despite the offensive pressure from Husson, Centenary goalkeeper Bohdan Olefirenko recorded a strong effort in net, finishing with 14 saves over 60 minutes of action.
The Cyclones generated seven shots in the contest, with Bova leading the way with four attempts. Sean Quinones and Xavier Cruz each collected a ground ball for Centenary, while Quinones also caused a turnover defensively. Husson was led offensively by Kiernan Field with six goals, while Camren Dufour added four goals and two assists as the Eagles totaled 47 shots in the game.
Centenary will look to regroup as the Cyclones continue their early-season schedule in their next matchup.
