Despite a strong offensive showing early in the game, Centenary University Baseball fell short in Game 1 of the Atlantic East Conference final regular season three-game series, dropping a 10-6 decision to #2 seed Neumann University on Friday.
The Cyclones came out swinging in the second inning, erupting for six runs to take an early lead. Dominick Chiego led the charge at the plate, going 2-for-4 with 2 RBIs, while teammates Nick Santacross and Dominick Zinna each chipped in with two hits of their own.
However, Centenary's offensive surge wasn't enough to contain Neumann's relentless bats. The Knights responded swiftly and methodically, scoring in multiple innings to regain control and eventually seal the game in seven innings due to the conference's run-rule regulations.
On the mound, Adam Yarrison provided a bright spot in relief for the Cyclones, tossing a clean inning with one strikeout and no earned runs, continuing his consistent presence out of the bullpen.
The Cyclones will look to bounce back in Game 2 as they aim to extend the series and keep their championship hopes alive.
