The Centenary University women's lacrosse team battled hard on Wednesday afternoon but ultimately fell 17-4 to conference opponent Neumann University on the road. Despite the loss, the Cyclones saw standout performances from key players, particularly goalkeeper Autumn Thame-Knox and attacker Dyani Alonso.
Alonso led the Cyclones' offense with a hat trick, scoring three of the team's four goals. Her aggressive play and ability to find the back of the net provided a bright spot for Centenary, who continued to push against a tough Neumann defense throughout the game. Chloe Neubauer contributed the other goal for the Cyclones, rounding out the team's scoring on the day.
In the crease, Autumn Thame-Knox delivered a career-best performance, notching 20 saves while facing relentless pressure from Neumann's attack. The freshman also scooped up five ground balls and caused two turnovers, showcasing her all-around impact and leadership on the field.
Neumann came out strong from the opening draw, establishing control early and never looking back. Their offense was balanced and efficient, putting up consistent scoring across all four quarters. Despite the Cyclones' best efforts, Neumann's depth and execution proved too much to overcome.
Centenary continues to show resilience and determination in Atlantic East play and will look to bounce back in their next matchup. The Cyclones return to action this Friday as they aim to build on the positives from Wednesday's contest.
