Centenary Softball dropped the first game of their conference doubleheader against Immaculata University on Monday afternoon, falling 9–0 in six innings. Despite a solid effort at the plate, the Cyclones couldn't overcome a big offensive showing from the Mighty Macs.
The Cyclones collected seven hits in the loss, with Senior infielder Sierra Stultz leading the charge. Stultz went 3-for-3 at the plate, continuing her strong season with a trio of singles. Jessica Burlew, Carolyn Rosenberg, Jaelynn Miller, and Sierra Kaye each added a hit, but the Cyclones were unable to string together enough offense to cross the plate.
On the mound, D'Ani Morales went the distance for Centenary, pitching all six innings. Morales gave up seven hits and struck out five, battling through a tough Immaculata lineup that capitalized on scoring opportunities early and often.
The Mighty Macs took control of the game with a steady attack, eventually putting the game out of reach and ending it in six innings due to the mercy rule.
Centenary will look to bounce back in Game Two of the doubleheader and salvage a split in this key conference matchup.
