Centenary Softball wrapped up a tough conference doubleheader on Wednesday, falling in Game 2 to Gwynedd Mercy University. Despite a solid offensive effort led by standout performances from Carolyn Rosenberg and Jaelynn Miller, the Cyclones couldn't overcome the Griffins' steady attack, dropping the contest with a final score of 9-2.
Centenary managed to scatter five hits across the seven innings of play, with Rosenberg once again proving to be a spark at the plate. The senior continued her hot streak, delivering her second multi-hit game of the day. Miller matched her with two hits of her own, and also came through with the team's lone RBI, driving in a run to keep the Cyclones within striking distance. Jessica Burlew also chipped in with a hit to round out Centenary's offense.
On the mound, Sierra Stultz went the distance for the Cyclones, tossing all six innings and keeping her team in the game throughout. She limited the damage to just four earned runs, battling through pressure situations and giving Centenary a chance to stay competitive until the final outs.
While the loss stings, there were plenty of positives to take away, especially with Rosenberg and Miller continuing to lead the charge offensively. The Cyclones will look to regroup and bounce back in their next matchup as they push forward in conference play.
Centenary returns to action next week as they aim to get back in the win column and build momentum heading into the final stretch of the season.
