Wilkes Barre, PA: The Centenary University women's basketball team dropped a non-conference matchup on the road Tuesday night, falling 71–46 to King's College (PA). The Cyclones were unable to recover from a slow start, as the Monarchs built an early lead behind efficient shooting and ball movement.
King's jumped out in front in the opening quarter, using three-point shooting to take a 16–6 advantage after one. Centenary showed defensive effort inside, recording multiple blocks early, but struggled offensively against King's pressure. The Monarchs extended the margin in the second quarter, taking a 33–15 lead into halftime.
Centenary responded with improved play in the second half, particularly in the paint. Vatijah Davis led the charge, finishing with a team-high 15 points, nine rebounds, and four blocks, while Alexa Osafo-Mensah added nine points, a game-high 11 rebounds, and strong interior defense. Alexandra Koon provided a spark off the bench with nine points in limited minutes, and the Cyclones held a 28–20 edge in points in the paint.
Despite the improved effort, King's continued to find success from beyond the arc, finishing the night with 12 three-pointers, which proved to be the difference. Centenary will look to build on its second-half momentum as the Cyclones continue non-conference play after a 2 week holiday break.
