HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – Centenary University women's basketball junior forward Jessica McKenzie earned a spot on the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District First Team for District II.

McKenzie, who carries a 3.95 cumulative GPA as an environmental science major, was one of six players named to the First Team in District II. That district encompasses Division III schools in Connecticut, D.C., Delaware, Maryland, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Vermont and West Virginia).

For the 2020-21 season, players were nominated based on career stats. McKenzie advances to the national ballot for the chance to be selected as an Academic All-American.

Though Covid-19 kept McKenzie and the Cyclones from playing in any games during the 2020-21 season, the power forward has had plenty of success in her career for Centenary.

McKenzie has played in 49 of a possible 52 games during her first two years and helped the Cyclones make the playoffs in each of those seasons. She is averaging 10.1 points and 7.6 rebounds per game in her career while shooting 49.7 percent from the field. McKenzie earned Second Team All-Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) honors as a freshman.

She has scored in double figures in 28 career games and has a double-double in 14 of those contests.

McKenzie has also excelled in the classroom where she twice won the Excellence in Science award, which is given to one of the top student-athletes in the science program. She has earned Dean's List accolades in four of her first five semesters (spring 2021 grades still to be posted).

In addition, McKenzie works with the Student Life staff and helps with activities on campus.

The First Team Academic All-District selections from all eight districts advance to the national ballot. The CoSIDA Academic All-American teams will be announced in late May.
