Cyclones Earn 64–56 Home Victory Over Gwynedd Mercy

Hackettstown, NJ. — The Centenary University women's basketball team picked up an important Atlantic East Conference win on Wednesday night, defeating Gwynedd Mercy University 64–56 at home. The Cyclones used balanced scoring and a strong effort on the glass to secure the victory, placing four players in double figures and finishing with a 50 team total rebounds. 

Vatijah Davis led the way with a game-high 22 points, shooting 7-of-16 from the field and 6-of-8 from the free-throw line. Davis added nine rebounds and three steals in 33 minutes of action. Kayla Sampong knocked down four three-pointers en route to 14 points, while adding five rebounds and three assists. Ashanti Dewalt contributed 13 points, eight rebounds and a team-high three assists, helping facilitate the Cyclones' offense throughout the contest. Alexa Osafo-Mensah added 10 points on an efficient 4-of-6 shooting night and grabbed eight rebounds to support Centenary's interior presence.

Off the bench, Alexandra Koon pulled down seven rebounds and scored four points, helping the Cyclones dominate the glass. Centenary finished with 50 total rebounds, including 14 offensive boards, creating second-chance opportunities that proved pivotal. The Cyclones shot 21-of-62 (33.9%) from the field and connected on 8-of-23 from beyond the arc, while converting 14-of-18 from the free-throw line. Defensively, Centenary forced 15 turnovers and recorded nine steals to help control the tempo.

With the victory, the Cyclones strengthen their positioning in the Atlantic East standings as the regular season winds down.
