HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – After powering the Centenary University men's basketball team to an 80-62 win in their only game of the week, senior forward
Billy Veras was named the Atlantic East Player of the Week.
Veras was honored by the Atlantic East for the second time this season (Nov. 15) and it's the third time in the last four weeks that Centenary has had the player of the week (
Chris LaBelle – Nov. 22).
Veras poured in a game-high 25 points to help the Cyclones beat Rosemont on Saturday. He was 11-for-17 from the field and connected on 3-of-5 free throw shots. Veras has scored 20 or more points in four of the last five contests for the Cyclones.
He added 11 rebounds, nine of which came on the defensive end, for his second straight double-double and third of the season.
Veras also contributed two assists, two blocks and a steal in the contest.
Veras is now averaging 21.2 points and 10.2 rebounds per game on the season. He is shooting 57.1% from the field and connecting on 68% of his chances from the foul line.
Veras and the Cyclones are back in action this evening, when they host John Jay at 7 p.m.
