Men's Lacrosse Works Out with Marine Corps Captain

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – Practice looked slightly different for the Centenary University men's lacrosse team on Wednesday, Oct. 21.

For the second straight year, the Cyclones were joined at practice by Captain Justin Frankel. Captain Frankel is the Officer Selection Officer for the United States Marine Corps and is stationed in New Brunswick, New Jersey.

Captain Frankel put the Cyclones and their coaching staff through an intensive workout. After a stretching session to get loose, Captain Frankel broke out his deck of cards. The suit on each card indicated a certain exercise – flutter kicks, pushups, burpees and air squats. Each card had a number on it as well to indicate how many of each exercise the Cyclones had to complete.

After struggling to try and complete the training exercises in the time allotted last year, this fall the Cyclones were able to not only complete the exercises but they also had two tries at a team pushup (each team member had their feet on the back of the man in back of them).

"It was cool to have Captain Frankel come out today and help us with team bonding and chemistry," said sophomore Jason Toledo. "It was really inspiring to hear him speak and help us learn to work together."
