FLEMINGTON, N.J. – Junior
Christopher Lilly threw a three-hit shutout in game one as the Centenary University baseball split its season opening doubleheader with Lehman College on Friday afternoon at Diamond Nation.
Lilly's strong performance on the mound helped the Cyclones claim a 1-0 victory in game one. Lehman bounced back with a 10-0 win in game two for the split.

Lilly was in control throughout the game as he limited the Lightning to one base runner or less in five of his seven frames. The junior relied on both groundouts and flyouts throughout the game and was aided by a fourth inning double play, turned by freshman
Christopher Gass and junior
Cole Fratesi.
The Cyclones put two runners on in the first and fourth innings but were unable to score.
Centenary finally broke through in the bottom of the sixth as senior
Chase Koffel led off with a single to right center. With one out in the frame, Fratesi drove a ball to the fence in left center for an RBI triple.
Lilly set the Lightning down in order in the top of the seventh to preserve the one run victory.
Lilly earned the win after giving up just three hits and striking out one in seven innings of work.
Rich Frommelt took the loss after giving up one run on five hits in six innings of action.
Fratesi had a pair of hits and the RBI for the Cyclones while Koffel had a hit, a run scored and a walk.
Mark Vargas reached base for the Lightning twice in the game via the only two walks Lilly gave up.
Game Two Recap (Lehman 10, Centenary 0)
Lehman struck first in game two with a pair of runs in the top first inning.
Jeremmy Santos had an RBI single in the frame.
Junior
Chris Miller reached on a two out single in the bottom of the second for the Cyclones but was stranded.
Lehman tacked on five runs in the third inning to take a 7-0 lead in the game. Vargas led off the frame with a home run while
Anthony Riley added a two-run double.
Centenary had two runners on in the bottom of the third as Gass walked and Koffel reached after being hit by a pitch but the Cyclones were unable to get either runner home.
Lehman added three more runs in the top of the seventh and claimed the 10-0 victory.
Jarrett Oehler earned the win on the mound for Lehman as he gave up three hits in seven innings of action. Senior
Stephen Fedak took the loss for the Cyclones after giving up five runs on seven hits in 2.1 innings of action.
Vargas and Riley led Lehman with two hits in the game. Vargas had a run scored and an RBI while Riley finished with three RBIs.
Sophomore
Joe Saffioti had a pair of hits in the game for the Cyclones.
Centenary is back in action on Saturday, Feb. 23 as they host Stockton at 12 p.m. in a doubleheader at Diamond Nation.
