HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – The Centenary University women's basketball team begins its Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) playoff push begins on Monday, Feb. 18 as the Cyclones travel to Cairn University.
The match-up between the fourth seeded Highlanders and the fifth seeded Cyclones is set for opening tip at 7 p.m.
The Cyclones will be making their fourth straight appearance in the CSAC Tournament and seventh overall. It is the first time Centenary will face Cairn in the conference tournament.
Featuring a young line-up with seven freshmen, the Cyclones have won at least 10 games for the fourth straight year. Freshman forward
Jessica McKenzie is the team's leading scorer and rebounder this season. McKenzie is averaging 11.6 points per game and 8.9 rebounds per game and has recorded eight double-doubles on the season. Freshman guard
Taylor Bossert is knocking down 9.3 points per game and has dished out a team-best 57 assists this season.
Cairn is 12-13 on the season and has four players averaging 10 points or better this season.
Kendra Stum leads the Highlanders while averaging 13.4 points and 7.5 rebounds per game while
Dakota Hitchner is putting down 12.2 points per game and has handed out a team-best 68 assists this year.
Monday's match-up will pit the top two teams in the CSAC for free throw shooting against each other. Centenary is connecting on 66.1 percent of it's chances from the foul line while Cairn has posted a 66.0 free throw percentage. McKenzie is the Cyclones' top free throw shooter at 74.1 percent while
Payton Emerick leads the Highlanders with a 80.5 free throw percentage.
Cairn swept the season series from the Cyclones as the Highlanders posted 61-56 road win and a 75-49 victory at home. Sophomore guard
Danika Brandt led the team with 14 points and six assists when the two squads met at home while McKenzie posted a game-high 18 points and nine rebounds in the road contest.
The winner of Monday's contest will advance to face either No. 1 Rosemont or No. 2 Keystone on Wednesday, Feb. 20.
