STROUDSBURG, Pa. – Led by top five finishes from sophomore Cameron Bruffy, junior Kenny Long and freshman Ryan Anderson, the Centenary University wrestling team competed at the East Stroudsburg Open on Sunday.

The Cyclones accumulated 42.5 points on the day and finished ninth in the field of 32 teams.

Bruffy finished fourth at 141-pounds while Long was fourth in the fourth in the 184-pound bracket. Anderson finished fifth at 149-pounds for the Cyclones.

"The East Stroudsburg Open has been one of the premier Collegiate Opens on the East Coast since I wrestled," said Centenary head coach John Garriques. "To have three individuals place in this event, with such a young team shows the path the program is on. I am extremely proud of the effort by all of our  guys, Monday we will be back at th he drawling boards."

Bruffy started his day with an 8-5 decision versus Shawn Nonaka of George Mason. He followed that up with a 7-5 decision over Christopher Mcmonegal of East Stroudsburg. Bruffy then suffered a 10-3 set back to Jonathan Miranda of Navy. He bounced back to post a 4-3 decision against Adam Barker of Long Island. In the third-place bout, Bruffy fell to Hunter Dusold of Columbia by a 14-5 margin.

Long received a bye in the first round at 184-pounds. He suffered a 14-2 set back to Elliott Riddick of the Warrior Wrestling Club in his first action of the day. Long bounced back and posted a 14-5 major decision over Anthony Emig of Kutztown. He followed that up with a 12-4 major decision against Charles Sczar of East Stroudsburg. In the third-place bout, Long fell to Dean Drugac of Old Dominion, 8-2.

After receiving a bye in the first round, Anderson opened his day with an impressive 16-0 tech fall versus Chris Naegele of Sacred Heart. Anderson was then tripped up by Dan Fongaro of NYC RTC by a 5-2 margin. Anderson bounced back to post a fall in 19 seconds against Zach Mccann of American. He followed that up with a fall in 29 seconds versus Joey Caprella of Old Dominion. Anderson then fell to Cade Balestrin from Team Nauman WC.

Sophomore Jacy Jones recorded a pair of wins at 133-pounds for the Cyclones. He earned a hard fought 5-4 decision over Anthony Romero of NYAC and a 9-3 decision against Michael Torres of Kutztown. Jones finished the day with a 2-2 record.

Freshman Jase Crouse finished with a pair of wins in the 285-pound bracket on the day. He earned both of wins by fall as he took down teammate Matt Angelov in 5:28 and recorded the fall over Isaac Cayo of East Stroudsburg in 5:51. Crouse finished the day with a 2-2 mark.
