Seniors Lead Cyclones Against No. 6 Ithaca

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – Senior Jordan Juliano posted his team leading eighth major decision of the season and three other members of the Centenary University wrestling team posted wins in their weight classes but No. 6 Ithaca College claimed the 29-14 win on Friday night.

Centenary finished the night with wins at 157, 165, 174 and 197 pounds.

After a scoreless first period, senior Christopher Muce battled for a 6-1 win over Jawan Jones at 157-pounds. Muce moves to 17-4 on the year with the win and is tied for the team lead in victories this season.

Redshirt junior Alec Donovan has now won all five of his dual meets this season after recording an 8-6 decision over Austin Whitney at 165-pounds. Donovan's opponent Whitney, was ranked ninth by D3Wrestle.com this week. Donovan sits at 14-5 on the season.

Juliano used a big third period to secure a 16-8 major decision against Steven Rice at 174-pounds. In addition to it being his eighth major decision of the season, Juliano is tied with Muce for the team lead in total wins as he is 17-6 on the year.

Senior Etiini Udott proved why he remained the No. 1 wrestler in the nation at 197-pounds this week. Udott took his bout by a 12-4 margin for his third major decision of the season. He improves to 15-3 on the year and 7-1 in dual meet action.

Several of the other Cyclones to hit the mat faced tough challenges as the Ithaca line-up featured three wrestlers ranked in the top 10 in their respective weight classes by the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) this week.

Freshman Cameron Bruffy battled Ben Brisman, who was ranked No. 2 at 141-pounds but ultimately fell, 8-3. Senior JT Valley took on the nation's top wrestler at 184-pounds in Jake Ashcraft. Ashcraft was able to secure a fall in the second period. Freshman David Oppis went up against No. 5 Jake O'Brien at 285-pounds and O'Brien was able to get the first period fall.

The Cyclones will be back in action on Friday, Feb. 1 as they travel to The College of New Jersey for a 7:30 p.m. match.
