Hackettstown, NJ – The Centenary College Men's Lacrosse team will face-off with Alvernia College on Wednesday afternoon in the 2015 season opener. The Cyclones and Crusaders will get started at 3:15 p.m. at the Reeves Turf Field in Hackettstown, NJ.
Junior
Anthony Biango (Highland Lakes, NJ) returns after establishing himself as one of the leaders in scoring last year as well as in points. Biango posted 22 goals and handed out 14 assists to reach 36 points during the 2014 season.
Teammate
Trevor Krupinski (Lincoln Park, NJ) totaled 21 points during his sophomore season after totaling 17 goals and four assists.
Kenton Gottshall (Toms River, NJ) played in all 14 contests scoring 12 goals and dished out 10 assists for 22 points while, also adding 45 face-off wins last season.
Sam Nickelson closed out a strong freshman season with five goals and 10 assists totaling 15 points with a .588 SOG Percentage.
On the defensive side senior
Nick Perkalis (Califon, NJ) picked up a team-high 76 groundballs for the Cyclones in 2014 and posted 21 caused turnovers, while also leading the team with 51 face-off wins last season. Perkalis also earned Second Team All-CSAC Conference as well as All-CSAC Sportsmanship Team honors.
Fellow senior
Kyle Peters (Hatboro, PA) totaled 38 groundballs which was good enough for third on the team and scooped up 27 groundballs.
Brock Mininger (Hatboro, PA) also returns for one final season to join Peters and Perkalis on the defensive end as he picked up 26 groundballs and caused 14 turnovers in 14 games played.
In goal, Junior
Kevin Switzer (Hillsdale, NJ) was named First Team All-CSAC Conference after stopping 165 opponent shots, while posting a10.29 goals against average in 594 minutes. Senior
Grant Nice will look to share time in goal after stopping 29 shots last year.
Centenary came up short in the 2014 season of making the Conference playoffs and will look to be a force on the field while improving on last year's numbers.
Following the game with Alvernia, the Cyclones will host Maritime College and visit Muhlenberg before returning home to host six
consecutive games.
