Immaculata, Pa. — The Centenary University Women's basketball team struggled on the road Saturday afternoon and fell 85–57 to Immaculata University in Atlantic East Conference play.
The Mighty Macs jumped out to an early lead and kept momentum throughout, outscoring the Cyclones in every quarter. Centenary trailed 17–13 after one and continued to fight as the game progressed, but Immaculata's balanced scoring and efficient shooting proved too much to overcome.
Junior Vatijah Davis led Centenary with 14 points on 6-of-13 shooting, knocking down a three and pacing the Cyclones' offense. Senior Alexa Osafo-Mensah added 8 points and 7 rebounds, while Jasmine Sampong contributed 7 points in the effort. Iysis Nickens also chipped in 7 points off the bench, and Ashanti Dewalt finished with 6 points as Centenary searched for offensive consistency.
The Cyclones shot 36.5% from the field and 22.2% from three-point range, connecting on 7-of-12 free throws on the afternoon. Centenary also recorded 10 points off turnovers and 15 second chance points, but Immaculata's strong shooting and depth kept the lead growing throughout the contest.
Centenary looks to close out the season strong with 2 final games next week at home.
