Aston, Pa.: The Centenary University men's basketball team fought through a competitive first half but ultimately fell 86–70 to Neumann University in Atlantic East Conference play on Saturday afternoon at The Mirenda Center.
Centenary (5–12, 3–3 AEC) came out strong and stayed within striking distance through the early stages of the game, trading baskets and maintaining pressure on the Knights. The Cyclones closed the first half trailing 39–31, staying in the game thanks to balanced scoring from several contributors.
Senior Justin Carbone led Centenary with 13 points, connecting on 5-of-11 shooting including two three-pointers. Kenneth Rankin added 12 points with six rebounds, and Darnelle Forrest scored 10 points while showing energy on both ends of the floor. Domenic Raymond chipped in 10 points, helping the Cyclones stay competitive through the first 20 minutes. Jasir Lane added effort with seven points and 12 rebounds, attacking the glass throughout the contest.
Neumann (12–5, 4–2 AEC) gradually pulled away in the second half to extend leads and close out the victory. The Knights' balanced attack and timely conversions helped them maintain separation down the stretch, limiting Centenary's ability to mount a comeback.
Despite the loss, Centenary showed resilience and depth, with multiple players contributing in scoring and rebounding. The Cyclones will look to build on this effort as they continue Atlantic East play in the coming weeks.
