Hackettstown, N.J. — The Centenary University women's soccer team left no doubt in their home matchup against SUNY Maritime, surging to an 8-1 victory on Saturday afternoon. The Cyclones controlled play from start to finish, highlighted by a career day from senior Liliana Flores, who scored four goals to power the offensive explosion.
Flores opened the scoring in the 23rd minute and continued to shine through the rain, adding tallies in the 38th, 65th, and 83rd minutes to complete her remarkable performance. Her four-goal outing marks one of the most dominant individual efforts in recent program history.
History was also made by the Fogarty sisters, who became the first sibling pair to score in the same game for Centenary. Freshman Ashley Fogarty netted her first of the season, while Freshman Elizabeth Fogarty added a brace of her own with goals in the 76th and 82nd minutes.
Rounding out the scoring for the Cyclones was sophomore Lesly Carillo-Garcia, who found the back of the net in the 57th minute. Assists on the day came from Elizabeth Fogarty and Jessica Smith, helping fuel the attack.
While the offense took center stage, Centenary's defensive unit and goalkeeper Kelby Kaiser provided a steady backbone. Kaiser recorded four key saves, allowing just a single goal to preserve the lopsided win.
With the win, Centenary improves to 1-1-1 on the season. The Cyclones will look to carry their momentum into their next match on Wednesday, September 10th, when they travel to face Stockton University at 4 p.m.
