The Centenary University softball team closed out their 2025 season on Friday afternoon with a spirited offensive showing, but ultimately came up short in a 17-10 loss to Marymount University in game two of their doubleheader. Despite the outcome, the Cyclones capped off the year with heart, pride, and a fitting tribute to their senior class.
Centenary's bats came alive in the finale, pounding out 16 hits — their second-highest total of the season. Leading the charge was senior Madison Passanante, who put on a show in her final game as a Cyclone, going 4-for-5 at the plate and driving in three runs. Fellow senior Jaelynn Miller also delivered a big performance, collecting three hits and showing her toughness in the circle by pitching all seven innings.
Jessica Burlew and Carolyn Rosenberg each added two hits in their last game in a Centenary uniform, helping fuel the Cyclones' best offensive outing of the doubleheader. The game featured multiple rallies and a relentless effort from a team that refused to go quietly.
Miller, who has been a steady presence all season, also recorded a strikeout while shouldering the full pitching load in her final collegiate start.
The Cyclones end their 2025 campaign with a 5-23 record, but the season was about more than just wins and losses. This year's seniors, who helped deliver a conference championship just one season ago, leave behind a legacy of perseverance, leadership, and pride in the program. Their contributions have laid a foundation that the next generation of Cyclones will build upon.
Though the season didn't end the way they hoped, the future remains bright in Hackettstown — thanks in no small part to the mark this senior class has left on Centenary softball.Â
