Centenary Baseball lit up the scoreboard on Tuesday afternoon, routing Cairn University 21-6 in a non-conference matchup that showcased the Cyclones' offensive firepower and pitching depth ahead of a pivotal conference weekend.
Simeon Reed and Dominick Chiego paced the Cyclones at the plate, each collecting three hits as part of Centenary's 17-hit outburst. Chiego also drove in three runs, matching Joseph Frei's RBI total for the day. Greg Carrillo led all hitters with four RBIs, continuing his strong stretch at the plate.
On the mound, Tyler Voltaire earned the win with a four-inning start, allowing five runs and keeping Centenary in control. The bullpen slammed the door from there, as Jackson Ponzo, Zach Gehman, and Adam Yarrison each tossed a scoreless inning. Gehman and Yarrison combined for five strikeouts in their clean frames, keeping Cairn from building any late momentum.
The Cyclones now shift their focus to a crucial conference showdown, as they host top-seeded Marymount on Friday and Saturday in what could be a defining series of the season.
