The Centenary University women's lacrosse team faced a formidable opponent on the road Saturday afternoon, falling 21-1 to Marymount University in conference action.
The Cyclones' lone goal came from freshman attacker Lauren Helder, who broke through the Saints' tough defensive unit in the second quarter to put Centenary on the board. Alonso's tally was a testament to the team's determination and refusal to back down, even against one of the conference's top programs.
Between the pipes, freshman goalie Autumn Thame-Knox turned in a gritty performance, recording 11 saves despite facing a relentless onslaught from Marymount's offense. Thame-Knox stood tall under pressure, helping to minimize damage and providing key leadership on the defensive end.
With the loss, the Cyclones will look to regroup as they head into the final stretch of their conference schedule. Centenary returns to action next week on the road against Neumann University and Notre Dame of Maryland, aiming to bounce back and build on the progress made Saturday.
