The Centenary Cyclones dropped Game 1 of their opening conference play doubleheader against Neumann University, falling 6-2 in a hard-fought contest. Despite a valiant effort, the Cyclones struggled to capitalize on their opportunities and were ultimately unable to mount a comeback after the Knights took control.
Centenary managed to generate five hits in the game, with Madison Passanante and Carolyn Rosenberg leading the charge. Passanante and Rosenberg each recorded two hits and accounted for both of the Cyclones' RBIs on the day. Passanante drove in one of the runs, while Rosenberg was responsible for the other. Jenna Garofalo contributed the only other hit for Centenary, but the team was unable to string together enough offense to break through.
On the mound, Jaelynn Miller put in a complete-game effort, going the full six innings. She allowed five earned runs while striking out three batters. While Miller showed resilience and battled through a tough outing, the Cyclones were unable to keep pace with Neumann's offensive attack.
Despite the loss, the Cyclones will look to regroup and bounce back in the second game of the doubleheader, aiming to split the series and get back on track in conference play. With a solid performance from their key hitters and a reliable pitcher in Miller, Centenary will be eager to shake off this setback and look ahead to the remainder of their conference schedule.
